Osteopathy and Reformer Clinical Pilates in Noosa

From the Outback Osteos to the Osteos of Noosa — meet our founders and hands-on therapists, Chris and Amanda Bell.

Over the last four years, Chris and Amanda have been travelling this beautiful country as the Outback Osteos. Taking their skills, knowledge and passion to some of the most remote towns in Australia. They believe all Australians deserve access to healthcare and they made it their mission to provide hands-on healthcare, education and mental health counselling to people from all walks of life. Chris and Amanda have a passion for adventure and a desire to help those Australians in need.

They are proud to still be providing fortnightly Osteopathic care to the remote town of Roma in outback central Queensland.

OSTEOS OF NOOSA

How We Can Help You

Osteopathy

Our Osteopaths believe everything is connected. We take a thorough history and complete a comprehensive examination to find the root cause of your pain. We can help with any musculoskeletal pain you may be experiencing from headaches and neck pain to tennis elbow and repetitive strains to lower back and sciatic pain. We treat with our hands using a variety of techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint manipulation and mobilisation and dry needling. At the end of your appointment we thrive to have you feeling, moving and doing better.

Clinical Pilates

Our beautiful Clinical Pilates space is for all ages at any stage of injury or any fitness level. What sets Clinical Pilates apart from regular Pilates classes is that your instructor is an Osteopath who has completed further training in Pilates and is used for individualised treatment depending on your needs. We offer 1 on 1 classes and 1 on 3 classes. This gives you the confidence that you are doing exercises that are right for you and performing them correctly.

What Happens During An Osteopathy Consultation?

We take a thorough history of your complaint, complete a full examination, explain to you what is going on and why. We then perform a comprehensive treatment and give you a clear and proactive management plan.

We Get To Know Your Symptoms

We have a discussion to establish where your pain could be coming from and if there are any lifestyle factors that could be contributing.

Create A Treatment Plan

Complete a thorough hands on movement based examination and explain your presentation to you so that we can create a treatment and management plan together that you understand.

Hands On Treatment

We use a wide variety of techniques such as soft tissue massage, myofascial release, joint manipulation and mobilisation, myofascial dry needling and cupping and more to help you align and shine.

Meet The Team

Dr Chris Bell

Dr Chris Bell

Founder | Osteopath

Gday, I’m Chris. I was drawn to a career in healthcare initially because I was always fascinated by the interconnected nature of the human body and its resilience and adaptability. I chose a career in Osteopathy because it considers all systems of the body with its holistic approach to treatment and individualised patient care. I love what I do because I get to problem solve, chat to people all day and no two treatments are the same. I played a lot of sport growing up and as such had my fair share of injuries so I got to witness first-hand the impact Osteopathy can have in the treatment of acute and chronic pain.

Dr Amanda Bell

Dr Amanda Bell

Founder | Osteopath | Clinical Pilates

Hey, I am Mandy. I fell in love with the human body and how amazing its capabilities are through dance, specifically ballet. The combination of strength and flexibility to achieve such beautiful lines, poses and forms turning the body into art blew me away and I knew I wanted to learn more. I believe every person deserves the right to be able to move, function and thrive in their own body. I love being able to assist people through my hands on treatment skills, clinical pilates rehab and providing an open space for people to be really heard. I believe it is this combination that allows me to mobilise, strengthen and empower my clients to function at their highest potential.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to bring and what do I wear?

Bring along any X-rays, scans or test results that you may have that is relevant to your visit and your private health care card if you have one. We want you to feel comfortable, so wear a comfortable shirt and loose pants or bring a pair of shorts to change into.

How does Osteopathy differ from Physiotherapy and Chiropractic?

The main difference between Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Osteopaths is in how they assess and treat the complaint. Physiotherapists focus on physical movement and function for patients, most commonly after injury or surgery using rehabilitation prescription. Chiropractors focus on diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems through manipulation to achieve optimal alignment. As Osteopaths we focus on the whole body identifying what is causing the mechanical overloading and pain in the area that’s sore and use a wide variety of techniques across all professions to return you to optimal function.

Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to see an Osteopath from your GP or any other practitioner. You can go right ahead and book an appointment here.

How many appointments will I need?

This depends on your condition, how long you have been suffering from it, your lifestyle and general health. Generally, you will expect to see some changes regarding your symptoms after one or two visits. Long term or chronic conditions may require more treatments or long term management. Your osteopath will discuss this along with what is happening and why with you after they have examined the area. If you have questions at any time, please feel free to ask them.

Do you treat children and at what age?

We can help people of all ages from 0-100. Chris has done further learning into paediatrics and commonly sees children from 0-4 who suffer from a range of issues from birth trauma, tongue ties and digestive issues.

Is Osteopathy treatment painful?

Osteopathic treatment does involve manual therapy that should not cause undue discomfort. Our osteopaths pride themselves on making you as comfortable as possible and will continually ask for feedback. There are techniques which may cause some short-term discomfort or pain but we only use techniques that we feel are necessary and that will benefit you. You may experience mild soreness for a day or two after treatment, not dissimilar to that felt after mild exercise. If this soreness persists or increases significantly, call your osteopath to discuss your concerns.

What are the principles behind Osteopathy?

Osteopathic Principles are what makes osteopathy unique in the modern healthcare system and are the dominant guiding force behind every osteopathic treatment.

The body is a unit: One part of the body has the ability to affect the function of another. All components are dependent on each other, mind, body and spirit.

Structure and function are reciprocally interrelated: Simply, if the structure is changed, the function will change.

The body is capable of self-healing, self-regulation, and health maintenance: As an osteopath it is our responsibility to remove any musculoskeletal restrictions that may hinder these natural processes from occurring and stimulate tissue healing processes.

Rational therapy: Our treatment, diagnosis and management must be based on the above three Principles.

How do I pay and do you accept any third party insurance?

We have EFTPOS facilities available and accept cash. Our Osteopathy services can be claimed under most private health extras cover if you have this insurance.

Do you have parking and are you wheelchair accessible?

We are located at the Acres centre in Noosaville and we have plenty of parking. We are wheelchair accessible and on the first floor, so no stairs!
